Hello, everyone. Today I am here to discuss an article on eyebrows. Eyebrows play an important role in your eye makeup. Even if you are going for a soft neutral look with just a winged liner, still the eyebrows need to be defined well. The primary step is to pluck the stray hairs from the eyebrows to give a precise shape to it, which is extremely vital. Unruly hairs or unkempt eyebrow surely isn't appealing to any eye makeup and may ruin the whole look. So let me tell you the easy steps to shape the eyebrows at home with tweezers to get the right shape and you won't have to visit the salon every time.
Face and Brow Shape
Get The Shape
Determining the right shape of the eyebrow is very important. There are various styles like the arch, straight, oval, etc. so see which eyebrow style defines the eyes well or suits the face.
The steps are as follows:
Limit The Arch
Sometimes to get the perfect chiseled look, we happen to go overboard with the arch but always maintain the same thickness when you are doing the eyebrows and thickness will only decrease once you go across the arch. Always stick to the rule and you will never go wrong.
The tools you need are as follows:
A clean sterilized tweezer is all you need. Choose a tweezer with a slanted sharp tip. This way it will help to grab the hair and pluck it without much pain. Personally, I have only visited the salon once for threading my brows and it was a painful experience for sure. Firstly, they got the shape wrong, then the breakouts and swollen area plus it pains a lot. After that, I have been plucking my eyebrows at home with tweezers throughout. '
Prepare The Area
The eyebrow area is sensitive as it is close to the eyes. Therefore you need to prep the area well before plucking. First, use a face wash and wash off all the layers of oil, dirt and grime from the area. Then, use a facial tissue dipped in lukewarm (not hot) water and soak the area to warm up. Warm water opens the follicles and softens hairs, helping them slip out more easily. Pat dry.
Trim The Excess
With the help of an old mascara brush or spoolie comb the eyebrow hair upward. Now, take a scissor and find out the long hairs which stand out of the normal thickness of your brows. It is still better to begin from the eyebrow ends and then work your way to the start point of the eyebrow.
Use Ice Cubes
Though some people prefer Lacto Calamine or Aloe Vera gel, the safest option is to slather ice cubes. This will ensure that the pores are closed and the area is softened easily. This also cools down the irritated area due to plucking and reduces the redness and pain in a jiff.

Get The Shape
Determining the right shape of the eyebrow is very important. There are various styles like the arch, straight, oval, etc. so see which eyebrow style defines the eyes well or suits the face.
The steps are as follows:
- First, place a straight object like a pencil or body of the brush along the sideline of your nose and the inner corner of your eye; the adjoining point on the eyebrow should be the point of starting.
- Then for the arch point, take the pencil along the side of your nose and put it vertically across to reach the iris on the outside edge. That is going to be the peak point of your eyebrow.
- Next, place the pencil on an angle against your cheek so that the open end is at the bottom of your nose and the other end reaches the outer corner of your eye. The spot where the pencil intersects your brow is where the eyebrow should end.
- Once you have marked all these three points, you know the actual shape you want to go for. The hairs below the line adjoining these three points are the ones to be removed.
