Tomato chutney is one of my favourites specially as a dip for dosas or idlis. It's quite simple to prepare and takes very less preparation time. It can be stored for upto 2-3 days.
Ingredients:
Tomatoes - 3(Cut into pieces)
Green Chillies - 7(Cut into pieces)
Salt - As per taste
Curry Leaves - 5
Tamarind - 30 grams
Cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Mustard Seeds/Rai - Half table spoon
Urad Dal - 1 table spoon
Chana Dal/Bengal Gram - 1 tablespoon
Coriander leaves - 1 bunch
Garlic - 2 cloves
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Preparation:
Take a pan to heat and add one tablespoon of oil to it.
Add tomatoes to it and stir.
After 5 mins add green chillies, curry leaves and tamarind and cook for 20 mins till the entire thing gets cooked.
Remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool.
Take a blender and add these ingredients from the pan and blend to form a chutney.
Add cumin seeds, salt and crushed garlic and blend for one turn.
Remove the chutney from the blender and keep it aside.
Take a pan to heat and add one tablespoon of oil. Add mustard seeds, chana dal and urad dal. Wait till they pop and add the tomato chutney to it and stir.
Add the coriander leaves and mix for great flavour.
The tomato chutney is ready to be served.

Tomato Chutney is simple and every person has a way of making it. Sometimes we want to have a change of taste. I will refer to it the next time I make tomato chutney because I don't add tamarind to it. Thanks for sharing.
