I don't know why I dislike cabbage, as a result of which I prepare less varities with it. But if I cook only my favourite's I will get bored with them too. So once in a while I try preparing cabbage also. And I feel this is one of the best cabbage recipe. It is different and has less amount of oil involved. No deep frying as well. So lets hit on!
Ingredients:
Moong dal - 1 cup
Cabbage - 1(small size)
Mustard Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Urad dal - 1 tablespoon
Chana dal - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric Powder - 1 tablespoon
Onions - 1(Finely chopped)
Green Chillies -5(Finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - 5
Salt - As per taste
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tablespoon/As per taste
Oil - 1 tablespoon
Preparation:
Boil the grated cabbage and keep it aside. Also soak the moong dal in water for 15 mins and keep it aside removing the water.
Take a pan to heat and add oil to it. Once it heats up add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal. Once they pop add onions, curry leaves and green chillies. Add turmeric powder and salt and mix it and fry for 5 mins.
Add the boiled cabbage and cook for 10 mins.
Add the moong dal, mix and cook for another 10 mins or till the dal turns soft.
Once the curry reaches required consistency, add red chilli powder and cook for another 5 mins.
Once done, remove from heat and serve hot.
Serving Options:
Serve it as a side dish with poori/chapathi/roti. It can also be served along with rice.
