Punitha from South Indian Food Recipes is our 24th guest contributor in "Be My Guest With A Guest Post". Punitha is a very simple, affectionate and kind hearted mother of two lovable sons Madhan and Jegan, to her daughter-in-law and to her very very special Grandson Praju. Ingredients:
Cabbage - 1 cup(finely chopped)
Chana dal - 2 tablespoons
Onion - 1(finely chopped)
Tomatoes - 2(finely chopped)
Coconut - 2 tablespoons(shredded)
Cinnamon - 1
Cloves - 2
Cardamom - 1
Ginger Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - Few
Coriander leaves - Few
Red chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt - To taste
Oil - As you need
Preparation:
Finely Chop the cabbage, onions and tomatoes.
Make a nice paste of ginger, garlic, cinnamon and cloves.
Cook the chana dal and drain the chana dal.
Grind the shreded coconut.
In a pan heat oil add the ground ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom paste and saute well.
Add the chopped onion, curry leaves and the chopped tomatoes.
After the onions and tomatoes get cooked add chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Don't allow it to burn.
Add the chopped cabbage and saute well.
Add the cooked chana dal and adjust adequate water.
When the cabbage cook well add the ground coconut paste.
Mix well and allow it to cook.
When tha masala comes into thick consistency, garnish with coriander leaves.
Serving Options:
Serve hot with rice/chapathi/dosai.
