I have always preferred to eat starters with lemon and onions as sides to it. Somehow, I feel lemon gives a great taste to any starter, be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian. This made me feel why not try out a starter which itself has lemon as a major ingredient. Then there will be no need to add any more lemon. That's how I made this lemon chicken at home. It was really yummy with chicken and lemon mixed taste. Hope you all like it too.
Ingredients:
Chicken - 500 grams(cubed and boneless)
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice - 4 tablespoons
Onions - 1(finely chopped)
Green Chillies - 4(finely chopped)
Curry leaves - 5
Turmeric powder - Half tablespoon
Red Chilli powder - 2 teaspoons
Salt - As per taste
Coriander Powder - 1 tablespoon
Coriander leaves - Half bunch(chopped)
Preparation:
Marinate the chicken pieces with 3 tablespoons of lemon juice for about 2 hours.
Take a pan to heat and add oil to it. Add onions, green chillies and curry leaves and fry till onions turn light brown in color.
Add the chicken pieces which were marinated with lemon to the pan. Also add turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well.
Cook for 15 minutes on medium flame and then sprinkle one tablespoon of lemon juice on top of it and cook for another 10 minutes by closing with a lid.
Once done, remove the lid and garnish with coriander leaves. Cook for another 5 mins till the chicken looks dry and cooked.
Remove from heat and serve the delicious lemon chicken.
Serving Options:
Serve this as a starter or you can serve it as a side dish with rice.
