If you love the taste of bottle gourd, then you will absolutely fall in love with this chutney. The actual taste of bottlegourd can be experienced while eating this. Its spicy with the addition of certain ingredients and that adds the flavor to this chutney. Try this out and you will agree with me.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Take a pan to heat and add one tablespoon of oil to it. Add one tablespoon of cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal each.Also add dry red chillies. Fry for 2-3 mins and remove them and keep it aside.
In the same pan, add bottle gourd, ginger, tamarind, green chillies and salt.
Add turmeric powder and cook for 20 mins on medium flame till the bottlegourd pieces get cooked. Once cooked, remove from heat and allow it to cool.
Take a blender and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and dry red chillies together and blend it. Then add the bottlegourd mixture to this blender and blend it well. Once done, remove it from blender. Take a pan to heat and add one tablespoon of oil to it. Add one tablespoon of cumin seeds, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal each along with the curry leaves. Wait till they pop and add the chutney mix. Remove from heat and serve.
Serving Options:
Serve the bottle gourd chutney with hot steamed rice and ghee or as a side with curd rice.
