I am back again with another wonderful recipe from Andhra. Every Sunday, there has to be non-vegetarian dish at my place as we all are non-veg lovers at home. My dad n my husband both love mutton/lamb among all other non-vegetarian dishes. So I keep looking out on the new options and ways to cook mutton. No matter what ever I cook, this old and native recipe which my grandmom cooks is the best. The addition of spices is what makes it what it is. You will agree once you taste it.
Ingredients:
Lamb/Mutton - 500 grams
Poppy seeds - 2 tablespoons
Dry Coconut Pieces - 3 tablespoons
Cardamom - 1 tablespoon
Bay leaves - 4
Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
Cloves - 1 tablespoon
Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
Water - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Onions - 1(finely chopped)
Green Chillies - 3(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder - 3 tablespoons
Salt - As per taste
Coriander leaves - Half bunch
Preparation:
Take a blender and add poppy seeds(ghas-ghas), dry coconut pieces, cardamom(elachi), bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, ginger-garlic paste and make it into a paste by adding little water.
Take a pan to heat and add oil to it. Add onions and green chillies and fry till they turn light brown in color.
Add the mutton pieces along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 mins by closing with a lid.
Now add the masala paste along with water we prepared earlier and mix well. Cook for 20-30 mins by closing with a lid till the lamb pieces turn tender. Add the coriander leaves for flavor and mix well.
Check for spices and once cooked remove from heat and serve the tasty Spicy Andhra Mutton Curry.
