When you are on a diet, the best breakfast which gives us sufficient energy and has low fat is idli. This is again a South Indian breakfast item. As I said about dosa, even idli is the favorite breakfast item in the street-side stalls. It is easy to prepare provided the batter is ready. As it is cooked on steam, it is considered healthy.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Take a non-stick idli plate as shown in the picture and apply oil on it to avoid sticking of the idli later.
Then add the idli batter(click here for its preparation) in it which we have prepared earlier.
Place it in a pressure cooker with some water underneath or you can use an idli steamer for this purpose. Cook for 10 minutes on high flame. Check with a tooth-pick by pricking in the middle to see if it is cooked. If the tooth-pick comes out clean, it means the idli is cooked.
Remove it and allow it to cool for 2-3 mins. The idli's are now ready to be served.
Serving Options:
Serve the idli with ghee and groundnut chutney/coconut chutney/ginger chutney.
Ingredients:
- Idli Batter - 4 small cups (click here for idli batter preparation)
- Oil - As required
