Payasam is a common dessert in any South Indian home. It is a must dessert in marriages. There are many varities of payasam. In all the payasams, the main ingredients will be sugar/jaggery, milk, cashew, raisins and cardamom powder.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Chop the banana into fine pieces.
Melt butter and fry cashew and raisins. Keep them aside.
In the same butter, saute the banana pieces for a minute.
Add the milk and water and cook in low flame.
Cook till the bananas become soft. Add the brown sugar and cook for another two minutes.
Add the roasted cashew and raisins. Mix well.
Banana payasam is ready to serve. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Tips:
Any variety of banana can be used. Use medium riped bananas.
Brown sugar can be replaced by sugar or any sweetener.
