I am a beginner when it comes to baking and still in the process of trying things and getting them right. Red Velvet Cake is the second cake I ever baked while first being the Chocolate Cake. Though my first cake was an average one, the second cake I baked was really good. It was baked well, the frosting was fine, the decoration was decent and it was yummy. Now that all is well, I am taking the liberty to share the recipe of Red Velvet Cake with you all. I still need to get perfection on frosting the cake. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with how this cake turned out.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 350 degress F.
Take a bowl and add all-purpose flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and unsweetened cocoa powder. Whisk them till they are mixed well. Then add eggs, oil, vanilla extract, food color, buttermilk and distilled vinegar. Beat them till a smooth batter is formed. Make sure it does not have any lumps.
Divide the cake evenly into two baking pans as shown below.
Put the two baking pans in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. In the middle of baking do rotate the pan to 180 degrees so that it gets cooked evenly all over. You can insert a tooth pick to check and if it comes out clean, that means the baking is done.
Remove the pans from oven and allow them to cool.
The top layer of the cake may not look even. You can take a knife and remove a thin portion of top layer to make it even.
Now take the first layer and frost it.
Place the second layer over it and repeat the frosting. The top layer needs more frosting than the first layer as it adds to the taste.
Decorate the cake as per your wish. I have used a sprinkle gel to make the outline design. I used some leftover cake, crumbled them into pieces and sprinkled it on the top.
The delicious Red Velvet Cake is now ready.
