There are loads of hair oils available in the market for various purposes. But more than 95% have mineral oil in them which is very much harmful to the scalp and aggravates hair problems, in the long run. Moreover, half of them fail to comply with the sky-high claims. On the other hand, the essential and herbal oils are best for hair and keep them healthy and nourished thoroughly. I have the problem of dry ends frizziness. So I prefer preparing my own hair oil at home. Off late, I have been obsessed with the idea of long hair. I searched the internet for all the essential herbs and oils that promote hair growth as well as nourish the roots. I have been using this homemade oil for the past 3-4 months and surprisingly I did notice some liveliness and growth in the length of my hair. As I am quite impatient, I tend to use the blow-dryer at least once a week but this oil helps restoring the moisture in my locks. So, here's the recipe for the hair oil to promote growth.
Ingredients Used & Their Benefits:
Castor Oil: The oil also has omega-6 essential fatty acids, responsible for healthy hair. Although it is thick, it penetrates into the scalp with massage and regulates the blood circulation which further stimulates the hair growth.
Coconut Oil: This is the HG oil for hair. In fact, it is the miracle oil for almost all kinds of hair problems. Coconut oil is a must have ingredient for beautiful hair.
Curry Leaves: Curry leaves can repair damaged roots as they contain essential nutrients which are good for the hair and also restore strength to the hair follicles. It also helps to prevent the hair from thinning.
Almond Oil: From split ends to conditioning to preventing hair loss, there's absolutely nothing that almond oil can't do. Due to its high content of fatty acids, it moisturizes and softens the scalp tissues and improves the blood circulation, which helps in reducing the inflammation in the scalp.
Cloves: Cloves when mixed with the coconut hair oil help in hair thickening. It is an excellent ingredient which results in thick nourished hair.
Fenugreek Seeds: They have proteins and nicotinic acid which are a great source for hair growth. It helps to reduce the dryness of the hair, cures dandruff, conditions the hair, keeps the scalp cool and treats a variety of scalp issues. It is highly useful against hair fall and provides strength from the roots.
Procedure:
Crush about 10-12 curry leaves and place them aside.
Add 10-15 cloves, 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds & curry leaves paste prepared earlier and mix thoroughly.
In a small bowl mix coconut oil. Since the oil used here is homemade, it's frozen.
Add castor and almond oil in a 2:2 proportion.
Heat the oil in a double boiler for 15-20 minutes without covering.
Put away from heat and keep it covered in a dark place for 24 hours.
Apply the oil (heated) overnight twice a week before shampoo.
Make the oil in small quantities so that you will be able to use it for a month. Make sure you prepare fresh oil every month for better results.
Quick Tip: The oil will be thick, so make sure you apply a small quantity and then spread and massage it evenly. Do not step out in the sun with oil in hair.
