Hair care has been an integral part of women beauty regimen from old times. Long, shiny and healthy hair adds to your natural beauty and the women blessed with them are always the center of attraction. Well, maintained hairs not only define how we look but also reflect our personality. This dream of lustrous hair always remains a dream for most of us due to various reasons and biggest culprit of them is hair fall. Hair fall makes your hair appear dull, lifeless and limp. No matter you have straight hair or wavy, thick hair or thin, waist long or bob - we all are a victim of this common hair problem. Research shows that on average 50-100 hairs lost every day is pretty normal but how do we know?? I mean we can't count every single precious lock that falls out of our head. Simplest way to know if you are also facing the hair fall issue is by observing. If you notice more fallen hairs while combing, showering, on your clothes and early morning on your pillow then definitely it's high time to do something about it. Don't worry, as disturbing as it seems, hair fall could be easily controlled by following some steps and making small changes in everyday routine. So just follow the simple tips given below and you are few steps away on achieving your all time dream of rich, healthy locks.
1. Keep Your Hair Clean & Dandruff Free
Sounds simple, right? But believe me unclean and dandruff prone hair is more likely to fall. So wash your hair twice or thrice a week with a mild shampoo to get rid of accumulated dust and product buildup. Hair properly washed and cleaned will also help to reduce dandruff which will ultimately reduce fall and promote healthy growth.
2. Always Wear A Scarf While Travelling
Exposing your hair to direct harsh sun rays, dust and pollution will aid to hair fall. On the contrary wearing a soft scarf will prevent hair fall by working as a barrier between your hair and pollution. It also makes your hair less frizzy and easy to style.
3. Do Not Comb Your Hair When Wet
Some people have the habit of combing hair when it is wet. This may also be the reason behind your hair fall. Our hair is weakest when wet, so combing wet hair may lead to breakage. Let your hair completely dry before combing or brushing. Also, if it is necessary to work with wet hair try using a leave-in serum or conditioner and use a wide toothed comb to detangle your hair.
4. Moisturize - Internally As Well As Externally
Dry and damaged hairs are more prone to hair fall. So the key is to keep them moisturized as much as you can. Drink 8-10 glasses of water to keep them hydrated internally and condition them well to moisturize externally. Also, you can use some natural ingredients like aloe vera gel and honey twice a week to restore the lost moisture of your hair. Just apply liberally on your hair for about 15 minutes and wash it off with plain water. You will see a huge difference in your hair texture and hair fall within 3-4 weeks.
5. Avoid Making Tight Ponytails & Hairstyles
Tight ponytails and hairstyles always make the hair worse, so try loose braids and buns. Also teasing and combing your hair back should be avoided as it leads to more hair breakage. Do not keep your hair open while sleeping as too much tugging and pulling will lead to more hair breakage.
6. Introduce Dietary Changes
When we are experiencing hair fall, protein rich diet should be taken like eggs, pulses, milk and its products as our hair is primarily made of proteins. Also, quick boost of omega 3 fatty acids in our diet will help control hair fall a lot. Take 1 tablespoon freshly ground flaxseed with water first thing in the morning and get ready for healthy looking and much stronger hair.
7. Hot Oil Treatment
Mix equal quantities of coconut oil, olive oil, almond or vitamin e oil, and slightly warm up this mixture. Massage your scalp twice a week with this mix and shampoo. You will feel an immediate reduction in hair fall. You can also try dry massaging your hair for 5 minutes regularly before bed which promotes hair growth and reduction in hair fall.
8. Say No To Heat & Sulphates
Regular heat styling and blow drying will make your hair dry and thus prone to fall. Always try to air dry your hair and avoid vigorous towel drying. Try switching to sulphate free and paraben free shampoos and hair products as too many chemicals will lead to more damage and ultimately lead them to fall.
9. Say Yes To Homemade Masks & Hair Treatments
There are numerous DIY's available which you can try at home and notice a huge reduction in hair fall. You can choose according to your requirements and availability.
For example, you can try banana yogurt hair mask by adding 2 spoons of banana and 4 spoons of yogurt in a blender and blend it well. You can also add a tablespoon of honey. Apply this mask on your scalp and rest of your hair for half an hour and shampoo well. This mask will deep condition your hair and also reduce your hair fall within a month. You can try this mask once or twice a week.
The problem of hair fall could easily be controlled by following the above methods. However if you do not notice any significant reduction in hair loss even after following all the tips and methods, you should try consulting a dermatologist to rule out serious hair problems. Hope this article will help you in solving your hair loss issues. Do comment your own tips on how you cope with your hair loss problems.
