Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Lipstick Collection – First Impression and Swatches

I was never a 'red lipstick' girl and always preferred nudes and browns. Lavanya, in one of the earlier hauls, sent me Street Wear Very Vampire lipstick which was a stark tomato red color. I was so scared to try the color and thought that it would make me look loud and gaudy but I have to say, I am very happy the way it turned out. Over the course of time, I tried so many reds and now, I just love flaunting red lips. So I have to really thank Lavanya for this and I was nothing less than elated when she sent me Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Lipstick Collection. This was launched somewhere in May this year and they included 5 shades (in US 6 shades are launched). This has been included in the Color Show range which is one of my favorite range of budget-friendly lipsticks. The lipsticks are the combination of matte and red – which is a bomb! First Impression:

The packaging is similar to the 'Color Show' range with a slight change,i.e., matte black body instead of glossy one.
A lot of people complained about the waxy texture of the Creamy Matte range, but I found it so smooth and apt. It glides evenly and smoothly.
Pigmentation is good but also depends on the individual lipstick as well.
The shade range, when I swatched it, look almost 70%-80% similar but when you actually wear it, you would know the difference.
All the shades are perfect for Indian skin tone and look hot and gorgeous.
The shade 206 Big Apple Red is 90% similar to the MAC Ruby Woo.
The longevity on the lips is surely impressive – for all the shades.
For now, I feel the price tag is justified.
