Hello, everyone. Hope you all are enjoying the monsoons. In Kolkata, it has been raining cats and dogs for the past one week now and being at home, I am loving this weather like anything. This is the perfect time of the year when I simply love to sip my green tea and relish the quietness. I have a series of reviews and articles already pending and thus, I thought of penning them down. Continuing with the Big Apple Red collection from my kitty, today I am going to review the shade 'Red Liberation' which is one of the pretty wearable everyday red. Let us see how the lipstick fared with me.

My Experience With Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick Red Liberation:
Packaging: Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick comes in a smooth matte black packaging with a reddish band (indicating the shade) wrapped around its body. The lipstick has the same twist function of the Color Show range and the cap shuts with a click. The name of the lipstick is written on the bottom and the twist up function works properly. The packaging is nothing very luxurious but I loved the simple matte black touch to it. Also, it is light weight and you can slip it in anywhere while traveling.
Shade: The shade 'Red Liberation' is wearable tomato red lipstick with a very faint orange undertone. Once again, I would infer that the shade is similar in certain aspects to the other ones. The shade is pretty wearable for daytime or light events. It is not a 'bright-on-the-face' kind of red but simple and sweet one. Since the color has an orange undertone, it becomes easier for the Indian skin tones to wear it. Also, it will look very nice on any skin tone. So, if you love red and still don't want too much attention on the lips, this is the shade for you.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this shade is above average. Since the color lacks brightness on its own, it provides decent saturation of color with one or two swipes. The color is not much buildable and if you wish to enhance the intensity, wear a deep red lip liner underneath. The color doesn't bleed at all even if you don't wear a lip liner underneath.
Texture: The texture of Maybelline Big Apple Red Lipstick Red Liberation is slightly disappointing than the other three of the shade range I have used. The lipstick is creamy and soft enough to glide on the lips but is very unforgiving even if your lips have a slight hint of dryness. It becomes difficult because my lips are almost never fully hydrated. Thus, whenever I apply it, it looks slightly patchy and waxy. You can also see in the lip swatch that it had accentuated on the dryness of my lips.
Formula: The formula of the lipstick is mildly hydrating and with the passage of time it becomes matte with a slight sheen on it. The formula is good, without bleeding, but it does transfer a lot if you don't set it with a powder. For normal lips the formula is excellent.
Staying Power: The lipstick stayed on my lips for around 4 hours with little drinks and snacks and I only noticed fading from the center of the lips a bit. The staying power can be elongated by various ways – wearing a lip primer underneath, lip liner or dabbing a setting powder on top.

Final Note:
Red Liberation is a very decent red color but the quality can surely be improved. If you want a wearable red lipstick for every day, this is a decent pick.

This is probably the least preferred for me in this range due to the dryness factor which I can see in the swatch. Hope you enjoyed trying the entire range Salomi :)
