I was sent this book for review purpose. All opinions stated are my own.
Batty Betty is a wonderful work of children's literature by Kathryn Hast. In today's world, one word which no parent wants to hear is bullying. Unfortunately, it is very real and growing concern throughout schools and society. So next time when your kids ask you why are they different, you have the solution of Batty Betty with you!
When a tuba named Abel goes out marching by himself, he finds a sad banana, Eve, who has been bullied by local beavers. As it turns out, she's not alone. The beavers also have it out for Betty, a towering giant who dances like no one's watching. Abel sets out to defeat these beavers, but soon discovers it's not about winning - it's about finding your own music amidst ruckus and noise.
Batty Betty is a beautifully illustrated cast of whimsical characters - a confident tuba named Abel, a sad banana named Eve, and a giant named Betty. Betty dances like nobody's watching and a group of beaver bullies, to the words inspired by the rhythm of song lyrics. This is a fun read for both children and parents as it tackles topics like bullying, kindness, and helping others.
The author of Batty Betty, Kathryn Hast, has a Master's of Fine Arts degree in writing and a Master's degree in Education. She is from York, Pennsylvania, and currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband and two children. She has one dog named after a Beatles song and one that barks at the television. Batty Betty is her second published children’s book, following her previous title Otis Grows.
Batty Betty can be purchased from www.lujubooks.com and is available for order on Amazon. Differences are things to celebrate, not things to hide from or mock. Batty Betty is a must read, don't miss it!
