The festive season is here and so is the time to indulge in rich, delicious desserts. When you expect guests at home, all you look for is a divine treat which can be prepared with ease. "Baked Bread Pudding" is one such dessert which is a great hit among our friends and family. I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it. If you are on a diet, you can make a healthier version of this recipe by using whole wheat bread instead of the white bread and brown sugar in place of regular sugar. So let's go ahead and take a look at how this flavorful dessert is made.
Ingredients Required:
Preparation:
Soak saffron strands in 2 tablespoons of warm milk and keep it aside.
Blend the pistachios and almonds to form a coarse mixture.
Take a large pan and boil the milk by keeping it on medium flame.
Keep stirring and add crushed cardamom pods along with soaked saffron strands.
Bring the milk to a gentle boil and keep stirring to avoid burning. Then add sugar, stir and let the milk simmer over medium heat.
Finally, add the pistachios and almond mixture to the milk and stir.
The milk will thicken and cream will be collected at the top. Keep stirring and get it to a thicker consistency. Once done, turn off the heat and transfer the milk pudding to another bowl. Let it cool down.
Remove the edges of the bread slices and cut them into two halves diagonally.
Toast the bread slices in butter till they turn brown and crisp.
Preheat the oven to 180 deg C. Take a baking dish and grease with butter.
Place the toasted bread slices side by side in the baking dish. Pour the prepared milk pudding over bread slices and bake for 10-15 minutes. This will let the bread soak in the milk pudding adding a rich flavor to it.
You can let the bread pudding cool and serve it or refrigerate it and serve it chilled.

Pairing Bread Pudding With CK Mondavi and Family Wines Red Blend
CK Mondavi and Family Red Blend is their winemaker’s signature cuvee, an expression of five red varieties capturing the best of each vintage. It has the backbone of Cabernet Sauvignon, the finesse of Merlot, the structure of Petit Verdot, the floral essence of Cabernet Franc and the boldness of Malbec. This full-bodied wine offers flavors of black cherries and plums and ends in a soft, balanced finish.
Bread Pudding has a sweet creamy flavor which goes perfectly with the soft and flavorful Red Blend. The pairing is awesome and you got to try it to love it.
